Es Castell
The village that thinks it's a town, Es Castell feels awfully grand for what is, essentially, a small coastal hamlet - the most Easterly village in the Kingdom of Spain. It has the British to thank for its ruler straight avenue and its grand public buildings. It's earlier name, Georgetown, hints at the time when, during the British occupation, the town was named after King George III. The town's history is strongly reflected in its architecture and you'll enjoy a day or two wandering its quiet streets. The main square, Placa de S"Esplanada, is formerly the parade ground! Georgian buildings and an elegant British clock tower, town hall and military barracks-turned museum will keep the history buff happy
