Islands Within Greece

Rhodes is famous as the island of sun, sea and sand, the ideal place for vacations. It is the third largest Greek island and, officially, the sunniest place in the Europe. The City is among the finest, not only in Greece but in the whole of the Mediterranean. It is situated at the island’s most northerly point and ringed by sea on the east and west. Rhodes (Rodos in Greek) combines the cosmopolitan character of a contemporary city with the picturesque of the medieval town, which gives the impression of having been untouched by the passage of time.

Afandou is an attractive and traditional Greek village set with in the beautiful Rhodes countryside and suits all ages of people. The beach at Afandou is flat, pebbly and gently shelving. Rhode's only 18 hole golf course is located nearby for clients who enjoy the off round of golf. After dark, the night centres on traditional Greek tavernas, fish restaurants and a handful of bars and cafes. For those who are looking for a livelier atmosphere at nights, Faliraki is an easy trip away.

Rhodes Town is all about sightseeing and there is plenty of that to do, the medieval walls of the old town with its winding cobbled streets are spectacular and the Mandraki harbour with its hustle and bustle is not to be missed. Rhodes Town itself does not have its own beach but there are a number of sand/shingle beaches within easy reach of the resort centre. After a hard days exploring (or sunbathing) there's no better place to pick a friendly taverna and tuck into some traditional Greek grub. Or head down to the harbour side, select some fresh fish and watch the commotion of daily life on the seas. Then press on to party central - the aptly named Bar Street - for a night of drinking and dancing.
