Please make sure that you are aware of the supplier’s contact details prior to travel.
You are advised that it is a prerequisite of travel that you are adequately insured and a booking condition of all suppliers that appropriate travel insurance is in place prior to travel. Have you ever wondered what words like "charter", "scheduled", "codeshare" and others mean?
Perhaps you've wondered where can you find their meanings? Well, here's our dictionary, the most frequently used flight terms & their meanings:
Airline code: a succession of letters, marking an airline (air carrier company), there are 2 types of airline codes: the IATA airline codes and the ICAO airline codes. The IATA codes consist of 2 letters, while the ICAO codes of 3. The IATA codes and ICAO codes are both frequently used in the case of airline identification.
Airliner: the aircraft in possession of the air carrier (airline) company, often confused with "airline", the airliner actually refers to the plane itself, the machine, not the operator
Airport code: a succession of letters, marking an airport, you can find 2 types of them: IATA airport codes and ICAO airport codes, the 2 differ from each other, usually IATA airport codes are the standard, you are most likely to find these codes in case you travel by air
Codesharing: marketing practice in which 2 or more airline companies share the same 2 letter code used to identify air carriers in the computer reservation systems used by the travel agents
Charter flight: flights organized directly from the departure location to the destination without any intermediate stops, usually these flights don't operate on a previously fixed schedule and have less room inside for passengers.
Scheduled flight: flights based on pre-determined schedules
Low cost/fare airline: an airline that sells fares for significantly lower prices and offers less in-flight services to passengers in order to cut costs, the low cost airlines usually sell their tickets online The cost of low cost fares usually increases the closer to departure you get.
Economy class: the cheapest class on conventional airline flights (low cost flight excluded, because they have no classes). Economy class is usually more expensive than low cost airline flights, but not much more expensive. Sometimes low cost airlines charge more than the conventional carriers on economy class. It is less comfortable than business class, there's less room, more people are cramped into smaller spaces, in-flight entertainment and meals are rather poor in comparison with business class.
Business class: specially created for businessmen, business class flights are more comfortable, allowing passengers to carry more luggage, offering more leg and elbow room, larger and more comfortable seats, often own screens, better menus, etc. Business class flights usually cost more than inferior classes. Low cost airlines (which generally have no classes) usually don't have business class.
First class: First class is a luxurious class in general. But, some airlines call their business class "first class", make sure you understand it right. The real first class is only available on long airline flights, especially intercontinental flights, on this class the best meals are served, you get full flat beds (seats that can be transformed into full flat beds), enough space for your body, and more. It costs up to more than 10-20 times the price of economy class.
Frequent flyer programs: marketing programs of airlines in which loyal customers earn points or miles for each flight, these points/miles can later be transformed into discounts or free/bonus flights
Nonstop flight: a flight with no intermediate stops
Seat pitch: the distance between seats in an aircraft’s passenger cabin, measured from any point on a given seat to the corresponding point on the seat in front of or behind it
Turbojet: an aircraft that is equipped with jet engines and whose power is solely the result of its jet exhaust
Turboprop: a type of engine that uses a jet engine to turn a propeller
Widebody aircraft: any aircraft with more than one aisle in the passenger cabin
7.07
It is possible with most Charter carriers to pre-book seats at a cost of between £10-16 (this is based on short haul flights, long haul flights are sometimes higher) per passenger – please note pre-booking seats guarantees that you are seated together, it does not however guarantee specific seats. It is possible with most scheduled carriers to send a seating request at no additional charge, please note however that no request can be guaranteed. It is not possible to pre-book seats on any BookThisTrip.co.uk low cost flights.
To pre book seats please email: admin@bookthistrip.co.uk with your booking details and request.
7.08
A charter airline is one that operates charter flights, that is flights that take place outside normal schedules, by a hiring arrangement with a particular customer.
In the context of mass tourism, charter flights have acquired the more specific meaning of a flight whose sole function is to transport holidaymakers to tourist destinations. Such charter flights are contrasted with scheduled flights, but they do in fact operate to regular, published schedules. However, tickets are not sold directly by the charter airline to the passengers, but by holiday companies who have chartered the flight (sometimes in a consortium with other companies).
Although charter airlines typically carry passengers who have booked individually or as small groups to beach resorts, historic towns, or cities where a cruise ship is awaiting them, sometimes an aircraft will be chartered by a single group such as members of a company, a sports team, or the military.
7.09
For most Charter and Scheduled flights the baggage allowance is 1 item weighing up to 20kg in the hold of the aircraft and 3kg-5kg hand (carry on) baggage. Please note some airlines have reduced their hold baggage allowance to 15kg hold luggage. This can be increased by calling Reservations on 0800 5300053, the charge is normally £15 short haul with long haul sometimes higher.
Please note on some low cost carriers there is a charge for any hold luggage (this is usually shown on the price breakdown on your flight costing), if you wish to check the baggage allowance for your airline, please contact us on 0800 5300053.

You are not obliged to purchase our travel insurance, but it will be necessary for you to inform us of the alternative arrangements you have made, as this information may be required by the supplier.
Amendments & Cancellations:
You are advised that any amendments made (names, dates, etc.) will incur administration charges from the supplier(s). BookThisTrip.co.uk charges an administration fee of £25.00 per amendment made. Other fees vary according to supplier. You will be notified of the exact charges at the time of amendment. You are advised that BookThisTrip.co.uk is not bound to comply with any request for amendment or cancellation. Any amendments or cancellations must be made in writing to BookThisTrip.co.uk. (by post, fax or e-mail). We are unable to accept any verbal requests for changes or cancellations. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt; therefore you are advised to confirm all changes to our Customer Services Dept by telephone. Please ensure that you have received written confirmation of any changes to your booking prior to travel. If additional persons are added to your booking this is done on the express understanding that they understand and accept all booking terms and conditions.
Cancellation of your booking will incur a fee from the supplier. This may differ from the deposit paid and will be dependent on the proximity of the cancellation date to the date of departure. Any difference between the cancellation fee and the deposit paid will be payable in full with immediate effect. In the event of non-payment, legal action will be taken to recover all monies due, plus associated legal costs.
Please note: If we are booking a flight(s) on your behalf with an airline which is a “low cost carrier”, for example ‘easyjet’, you should note that such carriers normally operate independently of each other and are normally quite inflexible. Furthermore, they will invariably charge more for amendments once the booking has been made and levy “severe” cancellation charges. For the avoidance of doubt, when we book a flight with a low cost carrier on your behalf, you are agreeing to those low cost carriers’ booking conditions including those setting out their amendment and cancellation charges which are available on their website.
Please note that all airlines and operators reserve the right to amend your flight details by up to 12 hours without compensation. They also reserve the right to change a carrier for operational reasons.

You are reminded that any special requests (pool view, low floor, etc.) are at the discretion of the accommodation supplier. Although all requests will be forwarded to the appropriate supplier, BookThisTrip.co.uk is unable to guarantee their performance.
